Final thoughts
As far as I am concerned, Ethiopia has a total of 8 medals, inlcuding 3 gold, and 3 silver medals and 1 bronze. This is made possible thanks to Turnesh Dibaba (2G), Kenenisa Bekele (2G), Seleshi Shine (1S), Elvan Abayneshlegese (2S) and Meseret Defar (1B). I am expectinjg that we will win Marathon.
Heroes Welcome
Ethiopia welcomes Olympics stars (Read BBC)
The victorious team were given a heroes' welcome in Addis Ababa |
Thousands of cheering Ethiopians have lined the streets of the capital, Addis Ababa, to welcome home the country's Olympic gold-medal winning athletes.
Ethiopian PM Meles Zenawi was at the airport to greet the team, led by Kenenisa Bekele and Tirunesh Dibaba, both of whom won two golds at Beijing.
The team was led from the airport in open-topped cars past ecstatic crowds. Ethiopia traditionally excels at long-distance running and finished 18th overall in the Olympic medal table. The country's athletes brought home from Beijing four gold, one silver and two bronze medals, dramatically improving on their haul at Athens four years ago, when they finished 28th. The airport reception for the athletes was followed by a larger ceremony at Addis Ababa's 30,000-seater National Stadium.

Dibaba storms to Olympic double
Dibaba storms to Olympic double
Dibaba adds another gold medal to her collection |
Ethiopia's Tirunesh Dibaba made it an Olympic double after winning the 5,000m on Friday in the Bird's Nest.
A week after winning the 10,000m, Dibaba sprinted to victory ahead of Turkey's Elvan Abeylegesse and defending champion Meseret Defar.
After a sluggish start with nobody willing to push the pace, Dibaba took the lead with two laps remaining to finish with a time of 15:41.40 secs.
It is the first time a female runner has won the 5,000m and 10,000m titles.

The battle of civilizations: Ethiopia has just run over China
China has 26 gold and Ethioipa has 1 Gold. We are 10^8 people, they are 1.5 X10^9. The population ration is, for one Ethiopian there are 150 chineese. As you can see the Gold medal ratio does not scale with the population ratio. If we were 1.5 X10^9, we would have had 150 Gold medals. According to my calculation the Ethiopian civilization is on top. This is before counting the diaspora athletes.
Ethiopia has given lots of athletes to Europe (the diaspora atheletes). One of them is Hewan Abebe, who ran agaist Dibaba for the 10000 Meter. Hewan Abebe lives in Turkey. Also Maryam Yusuf Jamal with former name Zenebech Tola, born and raised in AK's country.
Here are a few links
(Her name is Elvan Abeylegesse)
(Born in Ehtiopia Turk)
(Zenebech Tola but her name is Maryam Yusuf Jamal) runs for Bahrain, Of course she was born in AK's country, Arsi also check this and this
